Machine Theory: AC & DC Motor
This course covers the machine theory as well as specific vibration analysis for proper maintenance, trending and analysis of AC and DC motors. The course starts with the theory of operation and design of AC and DC motors. It then moveson to vibraiton analysis techniques by extablishing the appropriate hardware & software selection and setup for trending and diagnosis. The course then covers FFT Spectrun and Time Domain Analysis for the purpose of identifying specific AC and DC Motor faults.
Prerequisites
Secondary Education Diploma is recommended.

8 hours.
Certification Exam
25 Questions, 1 hour time limit, Open Book, passing score is 70% correct.
Course Objectives
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Understand AC and DC motor design considerations with respect to reliability.
- Successfully diagnose AC and DC motor malfunctions using vibration spectrum and time waveform analysis.
- Know how to specify proper vibration signal processing settings in order to properly identify problems.
- Set appropriate vibration severity levels.
