Reliability Specialist – Field Service

Brief Description

The position of Field Services Reliability Specialist consists of providing analysis and troubleshooting to maintain and improve the reliability of systems for clients of Pioneer Engineering Company. Our reliability specialists work closely with maintenance and process supervisors in various plants to maintain the performance of equipment. 


  • Collects vibration data on rotating equipment, analyzes and provides detailed reports as part of a predictive maintenance program
  • Acts as CM program lead and coordinates with operations and maintenance supervisors for needed changes to increase reliability
  • Installs and maintains permanent monitoring hardware of plant equipment for remote and online monitoring
  • Establishes and maintains preventative and predictive maintenance programs for equipment
  • Mentors clients and other Pioneer staff on topics with known proficiency
  • Teaches introduction and intermediate level classes and helps to develop training material
  • Diagnoses root cause and specifies the method of repair of plant equipment
  • Documents projects and technical work by writing detailed technical reports based on analysis
  • Stays up-to-date with industry standards to maintain, and adhere to engineering practices and guidelines required to achieve compliance with governmental laws and policies and industry best practices
  • Supports sales by being a technical resource and develops scopes of work
  • Supports Pioneer Engineering internal projects
  • Provides additional consulting services including but not limited to dynamic balancing, acceptance testing, advanced vibration analysis, reciprocating engine, and compressor analysis, infrared analysis, oil analysis, ultrasonic analysis, RCM, and RCFA facilitation, and PM task optimization
  • Additional consulting services can include but are not limited ODS and Modal Analysis

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 2 – 10 years of related experience with manufacturing equipment and plant maintenance preferred
  • High school diploma required, Associates degree in Industrial Technology preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing plant equipment, data acquisition, and analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Must successfully pass DISA background check per clientele requirements and obtain TWIC card
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must successfully pass onboarding and random drug screening to include hair follicle analysis per DCCHA consortium requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, and walk or stand up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to wear a respirator while working for short periods and be medically cleared to be respirator fit-tested annually
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to work with various software and hardware
  • Basic machine and machine component knowledge preferred but not required
  • Ability to travel 60% of the time or more upon request
  • The ideal candidate will have held similar positions that interfaced with staff engineers, maintenance personnel, management, and contractors

The Field Services Reliability Specialist reports to the Field Service Lead.

Working Conditions

The Field Services Reliability Specialist is often exposed to physical environments that will require the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Employees will frequently be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials or chemicals.
